Jailel, may the world teach you the truth.
Love always, Elaine
![]() Life is full of circumstances, choices, and consequences. There is purpose for both good and evil. Our experiences are like tools, keys, and ultimately lessons to look back to share and empathize with others. What you are about to read is triggering and sensitive content for some so if you or someone you know is dealing with a lot of mental and emotional stress, I suggest preparing yourself and reading at your own pace when you are ready. In this collection of readings are emails I sent to a group of friends and family while volunteering out of the country. They are un-edited to keep authenticity of how I felt during that time. After joining the international global engagement program, Omprakash, and being accepted to work with a non-government organization in the northern region of India near the Himalayas, I once again saw a light to the path I was intended to walk. My field position was to be a English teacher and contributing writer with my partner organization. This was a solo trip that I prepared for in a 12 week online training course with my mentor, Alex. During my time in India I was given a beautiful opportunity to grow and be a global citizen. I received an immense amount of support from my family, friends, and my Omprakash mentor while away and I have them to thank for my endurance through it all. Nothing can prepare you for your first experience out of the country, alone but all parties did their part in keeping my health and safety in mind. Place no blame or pity to anyone while reading. It may seem like there was no resolve or ending to this story but writing in the midst of this was not easy. I was too busy figuring out my way back home, to conclude. I am stronger than you may realize. I do recommend reading the Phases series especially 'First Quarter' before continuing. This collection is in chronological order from most recent to oldest. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. See the 'connect' tab for more info on how to reach me. Feel free to check out my capstone posts on the Omprakash website.

Tip:It is no ones fault as to what happened. Feel your emotions but place no blame on one person. Be kind to yourself and others. |
